About Errigal Mountain

by Admin

Standing at 751 meters, Errigal is the tallest mountain in the Derryveagh Mountain Range and certainly the most easily identifitied as recognised by Walking & Hiking Ireland when they voted it 'Irelands Most Iconic Mountain'. It is also the highest mountain in Donegal and dominates the skyline not only in Gweedore, but all surrounding areas.

Errigal looks impressive from all angles with one of the more spectacular views to be seen from the Gortahork side (North) of the mountain which shows off the harsh jagged quartzite edges of the Mountain. However the most iconic views of Errigal are undoubtedly from Gweedore where the mountains pyramidical profile is unmistakeable.

Climbing Errigal takes about an hour from the car-park to the summit and another 40 minutes back to the car.
